Meet the RWCS Governance Council

Odalys Diaz, President
Odalys is passionate about environmental stewardship and diversity. Her objective is to help the school grow via a strategic and mission-driven vision. She brings expertise in business, marketing, strategy, project management, and product management to the Council. Odalys has worked for the past 10 years at a Fortune 500 company in the financial industry. She holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of South Florida and a Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certificate.

Laura Mattingly, Secretary
Laura was born and raised in Santa Fe, NM with a long family lineage in the state. She was brought up attending overcrowded, underfunded Title 1 schools and wants a different educational path for her daughter.
She comes with over 25 years of administrative and management experience in the ski industry, hospitality, wholesale jewelry and is now a registrar for an online public school for the past 5 years. She has served on non-profit boards that raise money for various charities in the state.
Laura is a dedicated single mom and loves spending time with her daughter, friends, and family. She enjoys traveling, outdoors, attending live music and sports events (particularly the NY Yankees), gardening, and snowboarding.

Chevy Fleming
Chevy Fleming is a long-standing RWCS parent. He holds degrees in Cultural Anthropology from UNM and K-8 Elementary Education from NNMC. Chevy is a self-employed entrepreneur. He has taught 4th grade and 7th grade public education classes in NM. He is a published author. Chevy is also a teacher at the Native Roots School. He loves to ski, with his children, and as a chaperone at the TSV school program.

David Blood
David retired to Taos two years ago, from a 25 year career practicing naturopathic medicine in Chicago. He brings several years of prior board experience to the Roots and Wings community, having served as a Trustee for Governance and Development at the Chicago Waldorf School.
Council Meetings
Governance Council meetings are open to the public. The Council meets virtually the third Wednesday of the month via Google Meets. Changes in meeting dates, special meetings and emergency meetings will be posted on the RWCS website no later than 72 hours prior to the meeting. Members of the RWCS Governance Council may on occasion attend public functions resulting in a possible quorum. Governance Council members will refrain from discussing school business at public functions or social gatherings.
